Stefano Tesoro

Stefano is a dedicated insurance defence litigation lawyer with extensive experience handling occupiers’ liability, commercial liability, motor vehicle accident claims, statutory accident benefits, and subrogation matters. He provides strategic and results-driven advocacy for insurers and their clients, ensuring effective and efficient resolution of claims.

Before joining Jones Kopp Litigation Partners LLP, Stefano practiced at a leading insurance defence firm and served as in-house defence counsel for a multinational insurer. In these roles, he gained invaluable insight into the complexities of insurance litigation from both a private practice and corporate perspective, allowing him to approach cases with a well-rounded and pragmatic strategy.

Stefano has successfully represented clients before the Ontario Small Claims Court, Ontario Court of Justice, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, as well as before various boards and tribunals. His courtroom experience, combined with a meticulous approach to case preparation, ensures that his clients receive strong and thorough representation at every stage of litigation.

Stefano earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law, where he honed his legal research and advocacy skills as a legal researcher with Pro Bono Students Canada and as a competitor in the Canadian Client Consultation Competition moot. He also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh, reflecting his strong academic foundation and analytical approach to legal problem-solving.

Beyond the office, Stefano enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with his golden retriever, Montecristo.
