Cassandra Theune

Before joining Jones Kopp Litigation in 2021, Cassandra worked for one of Canada’s largest national insurers and at a prominent insurance defence firm in Toronto, where she gained extensive experience handling a broad range of tort claims. Her practice focuses on personal injury, property loss, subrogation, professional liability, occupiers’ liability, and commercial host claims. Her ability to analyze cases from both plaintiff and defence perspectives—having also acted as trial counsel for plaintiff matters—gives her a unique advantage when assessing risk, developing strategies, and advocating for her clients.

Cassandra has jury trial experience and has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Justice, and Ontario Small Claims Court. She is a confident and persuasive advocate at all stages of litigation, from early case evaluation through to trial.

After her call to the Bar, Cassandra began her career at a respected Niagara-based firm, where she gained experience in multiple areas of law, working closely with a diverse range of clients. She later transitioned to an in-house counsel role in a fast-paced industry, advising executive-level employees on matters related to corporate, commercial, privacy, and contract law. This business-focused legal experience has given her a distinct understanding of the broader considerations her clients face, allowing her to provide not just legal representation, but strategic guidance that aligns with their business and operational objectives.
