Alysha Bayes

Alysha Bayes is a highly skilled insurance defence litigator with over a decade of experience handling complex tort and accident benefits matters. She is known for her strategic approach, strong advocacy skills, and deep understanding of insurance law, making her a trusted advisor to insurers and corporate clients alike.

Alysha obtained her B.A. from the University of Waterloo in 2007 and went on to earn her LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in 2011. After being called to the Bar in 2012, she practiced in Hamilton for six years, where she focused on insurance defence litigation, handling CGL, auto, and property claims. She is well-versed in both tort and accident benefits matters, including loss transfer, priority disputes, and coverage issues.

Her experience includes working in-house at a top-three Canadian insurer, where she gained valuable insight into high-exposure, complex cases, including catastrophic (CAT) claims and major loss files. This in-house experience has given her a unique perspective on risk assessment, litigation strategy, and the broader business considerations insurers face when managing claims.

Alysha has appeared before numerous levels of court, various administrative tribunals, and private arbitrations, demonstrating her ability to advocate effectively in diverse legal settings. In September 2021, she joined Jones Kopp Litigation Partners LLP, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in litigating intricate insurance matters and providing strategic legal guidance.
